FROM THE CUTTING EDGE

Civilizations do not rise and fall because of weapons, or economics, or technologies. They rise and fall because of the great sway of emotion and belief.

Seth On Love

* Basically, love and creativity are synonymous. Love exists without an object. It is the impetus by which all being becomes manifest.
* Love is a biological necessity, a force operating to one degree or another in all biological life. Without love there is no physical commitment to life—no psychic hold.
* I am saying that deeper bonds of biological and spiritual love lie at the basis of all personal and cultural relationships.
* Love incites the desire to know, explore, and communicate.

Seth on Ego

It is the most physically oriented portion of your inner self; but it is not, however, apart from your inner self. It sits on the window sill, so to speak, between you and the exterior world. (Voice stronger for emphasis:) It can also look in both directions.

It makes judgments about the nature of reality in relationship to its and your needs. It accepts or does not accept beliefs. It cannot shut out information from your conscious mind, however — but it can refuse to pay attention to it.

This does not mean that the information becomes unconscious. It is simply thrown into a corner of your mind, unassimilated, and not organized into the parcel of beliefs upon which you are presently concentrating. It is there if you look for it.

Seth On Impulses

“Each person has his or her own ideals, and impulses direct those ideals naturally into their own specific avenues of development—avenues meant to fulfill both the individual and his society.

“Impulses provide specifications, methods, meanings, definitions. They point toward definite avenues of expression, avenues that will provide the individual with a sense of actualization, natural power, and that will automatically provide feedback, so that the person knows he is impressing his environment for the better.

“Those natural impulses, followed, will automatically lead to political and social organizations that become both tools for individual development and implements for the fulfillment of the society.”

—The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events, Session 860

Seth On Creating Your Reality

“I want you to realize the responsibility for your life and your environment is your own. If you believe otherwise, then you are limited. Your environment represents the sum total of knowledge and experience.

“As long as you believe your environment to be objective and independent of yourself, then to a large extent you feel powerless to change it, to see beyond it, or to imagine other alternatives that may be less apparent.

“Like a true absent-minded professor, the conscious self forgets all this, however, so when tragedy appears in the script, difficulty or challenges, the conscious self looks for someone or something to blame.

“Before this book is done I hope to show you precisely how you create each MINUTE of your experience so that you can begin to exert your true creative responsibility on a conscious level—or nearly so.”
